2024 Green Bay Packers Season Preview & Odds: Can Love Take the Leap?

The Green Bay Packers' 2024 season is likely to be a fun one on the heels of a successful 2023 campaign. All eyes will be on starting quarterback Jordan Love after his record-setting contract. Following his outstanding first season at the helm and with the youngest team to make the playoffs one year older there's plenty of value in the Packers' season betting odds and I preview all of the major odds markets down below.

2024 Green Bay Packers Super Bowl & NFC Odds

Odds as of August 1

Green Bay's +200 odds to win the NFC North division in 2024 are enticing. Keep in mind, the Green and Gold have won the division in three of the past five seasons, but haven't come out with an NFC North crown since 2021. The last time Green Bay failed to win the NFC North in three straight seasons was from 2008-2010 as the team transitioned from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers under center.

Consider the fact that Matt Lafleur is 22-8 versus NFC North opponents as the Packers head coach, with the best winning percentage (.733) in the history of the division. Having said that, waiting to see Week 1 results is the play here, you may lose a little bit of value, but early season matchups with the Colts and Titans are likely to have the Packers in the drivers seat in the NFC North by the end of September.

The Packers surprised many by not only squeezing into the playoffs in the last week of the season, but waltzing into Jerry World and blasting the Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card round.

General Manager Brian Gutekunst has orchestrated an outstanding off-season, shoring up many holes in the roster and ensuring his homegrown talents are taken care of. Quarterback Jordan Love got paid and all is well at 1265 Lombardi Avenue.

At +1800 odds to win the Super Bowl, I'd wait before placing a wager. The Packers odds aren't like to change much in the first month of the season, and an early season stumble could create even more betting value.

2024 Green Bay Packers Win Total Odds

Odds as of August 1

Green Bay finished strong last season and were a joy for bettors fond of taking the underdog. They finished a stellar 8-5 ATS as a dog on the year. The Packers will aim to build on their nine win campaign in 2024.

Under new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, the Packers will be far more aggressive. No longer will the team line up with their corners 10 yards off the line. Hafley’s scheme aims to get the front seven downhill and attack the quarterback, with corners in press-man coverage. The additions of safeties Xavier McKinney, and Javon Bullard will clean up the backend. While Kenny Clark, Rashan Gary, and Lukas Van Ness tee off on opposing quarterbacks.

If you're looking to fade Green Bay, a November stretch of dates with the Lions, Bears, 49ers, Dolphins and Lions again will be tough to navigate. However, with the Packers taking on the lowly AFC South this season 10 wins is a reasonable benchmark.

2024 Green Bay Packers Playoff Odds

Odds as of August 1

Winnable contests against the aforementioned Colts, Titans and Jaguars give the Packers a great shot at making the playoffs. On top of that, Green Bay gets to take on the Vikings, with either Sam Darnold or rookie J.J. McCarthy at the helm, plus Matt Lafleur is undefeated against the Bears. So improving on last season, winning 10 games and qualify for the postseason is very realistic for the Packers. Sportsbooks seem to believe the Packers will win more than enough games to make the playoffs, so at -158 odds they’re a bargain to qualify for the postseason.

Green Bay possesses a ton of young, ascending talents who will only improve in 2024. Making the playoffs and improving on last season’s trip to the divisional round is well within their reach.

2024 Green Bay Packers NFL MVP Odds

Odds as of August 1

With a stable of healthy weapons, including new running back Josh Jacobs, and a reinforced offensive line in front of him, Love is set to explode. Jump on Jordan Love to win NFL MVP now at +1400 odds. His odds are only likely to fall in the early parts of the season. I also really like Love to go over 3,825.5 passing yards this season at -112 odds. He threw for 4,159 yards last season, and while he may not be forced to throw the ball quite as much with Jacobs now behind him, Love will still soar past this low number.

If Love’s performance against the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs is any indication, he’s in store for a massive 2024. He threw for 32 touchdowns while ranking 29th in turnover worth play rate. Love was second in EPA per dropback from weeks 10-18, and seventh in EPA per dropback under pressure in his first season as a starter.
