2025 World Series Odds: Dodgers Favored To Repeat

It's already time to look at the 2025 World Series odds!

After dismantling the Yankees this year, the Los Angeles Dodgers are favored to win the title again next year, with th Yankees and Braves rounding out the top-three at Caesars Sportsbook.

I'll break down if the Dodgers can actually repeat and my best 2025 World Series value picks below:

Who Is Favored To Win The 2025 World Series?

Can The Dodgers Repeat as WS Champs?

I don't see a reason the Dodgers can't steamroll their way back to a World Series in 2025. Los Angeles was expected to be the best team in baseball coming into 2024 and ended up being exactly that and winning the title, but it's not like they played their best baseball all year. They worked through significant injuries to Yoshi Yamamoto, Mookie Betts, Tyler Glasnow, and others — and still came out on top.

The Dodgers will get Glasnow and Shohei Ohtani back in the rotation next year, plus guys like Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin should contribute. As long as the Dodgers are able to replace the offensive contribution of Teoscar Hernandez this winter, I don't expect them to take any kind of step back. If anything, I think they can be even better next year.

World Series Odds Best Bet: Atlanta Braves (+800)

The Atlanta Braves won 89 games and made the playoffs last year, despite missing Spencer Strider, Ronald Acuna Jr., Austin Riley, and Ozzie Albies for large chunks of the season (and Chris Sale for the postseason). That's basically all of their best players.

Last year was Atlanta's floor, and they were still an amazing squad. We already know what the ceiling of this team is (we've seen them win a World Series), so I'll get in on a bounce-back year for the Braves in 2025. If guys stay healthy, the Braves are as good as anyone.

World Series Odds Dark Horse: Tampa Bay Rays (+5000)

I don't care what stadium they play in, the 2025 Tampa Bay Rays are going to be a lot better than last year's version.

I'm not sure there's a team in baseball that will get more pitching talent back next year, with Shane McClanahan, Drew Rasmussen, Jeffrey Springs, and Shane Baz all set to return as regular rotation members in 2025.

The Rays have made the playoffs in five of the last six years, out-performing their win total in five of those seasons, so this is clearly a team the books underestimate. With a healthy rotation and another year of development for young studs like Jonny DeLuca and Junior Caminero, I expect Tampa to be right back to the scrappy underrated squad they've always been. So, at +5000, they're a great World Series value bet.

Betting Strategy for World Series Futures

Evidence suggests waiting before placing World Series futures bets, but if you are keen on a pre-season wager, don't go with the chalk. In the last 10 seasons, only three pre-season favorites (the 2020 and 2024 Dodgers and 2016 Cubs) have gone on to win the championship.

A middle-of-the-pack sweet spot has formed over the last decade or so. Four clubs (the 2017 Astros, the 2018 Red Sox, the 2021 Braves, and the 2022 Astros) all began their respective seasons with World Series odds between +1000 and +1200. I'd turn to those ranges for a pre-season bet in 2025.

Last 10 World Series Champions

The biggest long shot to win the World Series in the last decade was the 2015 Kansas City Royals. The '23 Rangers weren't far behind either, with +3200 odds to win the championship.

The Royals were coming off a season in which they dominated all the way to the World Series (not losing a single playoff game on the AL side of the bracket) and then pushed the eventual champion Giants to seven games for the title. However, they weren’t getting much respect in preseason odds the next year as KC’s +3300 Opening Day odds to win the title placed the team 17th on the board at the time.

MLB Teams with the Most World Series Titles

The New York Yankees have won the most World Series in MLB history. However, it's been a while since the Bronx Bombers added to their total. The Yankees last won a World Series in 2009, defeating the Phillies in six games.

MLB Teams That Have Never Won a World Series

Five MLB franchises have yet to win a World Series. The Seattle Mariners are the only team that’s never even been to a World Series final despite having some of the league’s best-ever players like Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martinez, and Ichiro Suzuki.

World Series Betting Trends

  • Eight Wild Card teams have gone on to win the World Series (15 have made it)
  • Nine teams in MLB history have made a manager change midseason and gone on to make the World Series (including the 2022 Phillies)
  • Eight of the last 11 World Series have gone at least six games
  • There has been only one World Series sweep since 2010
  • No league (AL or NL) has won more than four World Series in a row since 1979-1982
