The Washington Redskins continued their trend of being washed up at home on Monday nights but will get a chance to bring their home record even with a win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon.
The Redskins went into their Monday night matchup with the Steelers as 2.5-point underdogs but were thoroughly throttled 38-16 by a team many believe has legitimate hopes of making a Super Bowl run this year. It became clear by the third quarter that Washington’s defense was not going to stop the trifecta of Big Ben, DeAngelo Williams and Antonio Brown. The Redskins could find themselves in trouble once again in Week 2 as they face a Cowboys team that can run the ball with the best of them.
Speaking of Dallas, they ran for the fourth-most yards in Week 1 but could do some serious damage against a Washington front seven that gave up 147 rushing yards in their first game and that was the worst in defending the run on first down just one year ago. Dak Prescott looked capable in his first start for the Cowboys but was tentative when it came to throwing the ball down the field. Dallas’ No 1. receiver Dez Bryant was thrown the ball just five times on Sunday and made only one catch.
The passing game will have to improve if the Cowboys want to cover the spread for just the third time in eight games away from AT&T Stadium.
