Friday Night Football Betting Report: Lean On Underdogs’ Spread

Our college football Friday night betting report finds the edge on how to bet on the favorites, home teams and point totals for the games that kick off the weekend. Week 7 headlines a No. 16 Utah (-23.5) playing Arizona State, where Cameron Rising is set to make his first appearance since suffering an injury in Week 2.

The Friday favorite went 2-2 SU and 1-3 ATS in Week 6, with Jacksonville State being the only group to cover its spread, a 17-point mark over Kennesaw State. Oregon just failed to reach its 22.5-point in its 31-10 win over Michigan State.

Betting on the underdogs, who are 14-6 ATS through five weeks, seems to be the current play. Ahead of Week 7, two of our three Friday games are in the double-digit margin — giving plenty of room for the 'dogs to continue their promising spread record.

home advantage isn't real on fridays

Sure, the home teams are a modest 11-9 SU (-$712.44), although it doesn't seem that they're tilting the scoreboard. Home teams have covered less than half of spreads this season, clearly (-$858.11), a home crowd edge isn't as effective on Fridays. Guess the students have night classes to attend instead of a football game.

The smallest spread on Friday is ironically given to the only rank group as the No. 16 Utah Utes (-5.5) clash with Arizona State. After being held off the field the last three weeks from dislocating his finger, Cameron Rising, the seventh-year senior, is set to make his return under centre for Utah. Regardless, beware of betting on Utah, though. The Utes have covered just a single spread against FBS competition this season, which was a bleak 1-point line over Oklahoma State in Week 4.
