Home Has Not Been so Sweet For the Cowboys

Week 5 will see a rare matchup between the 2-2 Bengals and the 3-1 Cowboys as Dallas hosts Cincinnati on Sunday for the first time since 2008. The Boys will look to win consecutive home games this weekend for the first time since October 2014 when they won three in a row at AT&T Stadium. Since then? Dallas is just 3-11 in friendly territory.

SHARK BITES
  • The Bengals are 7-3 SU and 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 games on the road.
  • The Cowboys are 1-8 SU in their last nine games at home.
  • The total has gone OVER in nine of the Bengals' last 11 games in October.

Cincinnati got back to .500 last week after thrashing the Dolphins 22-7 on a short week. AJ Green looked like a shark among fish in the contest, racking up 10 catches, 173 yards and a touchdown on just 12 targets. The big wideout, however, was pretty much the only source of offense and the Bengals had to rely heavily on the shortcomings of a sputtering Dolphins offense. The Cowboys have proved they can move the rock with rookie QB Dak Prescott at the helm and should be able to offer the Bengals a stiff challenge on their home turf.

Ezekiel Elliott has really broken out his last two games as he’s combined for 278 yards on 53 carries for an average of 5.25 yards per carry. This success in the running game has opened things up through the air but Prescott still refuses to throw the ball deep down the field and with Dez Bryant’s status questionable, we could see that trend continue. Playing the check-down game and forcing underneath routes has worked for Dak in the early stages of the season but he could get a reality check against a Bengals D that allowed Ryan Tannehill to throw for just 189 yards in Week 4 – 74 of them on a blown coverage to deep threat Kenny Stills.

The Bengals have not earned consecutive wins since December of last year as they are 0-4 in their last four games after wins, yet opened as a slight -1 favorite in this one. The Cowboys have not earned an ATS loss yet this season so plus points for Dallas could be very attractive if that line grows.
