Indiana vs Ohio State Odds & Picks Week 13: Spread Too Generous To Buckeyes

Since the turn of the century, the Ohio State Buckeyes have defeated Indiana in 21-straight meetings. However, in that span, the best record the Hoosiers finished with was 8-5 SU (2019). That's not how the new-and-improved Indiana program, still undefeated, operates under Curt Cignetti. So, will the Buckeyes finally struggle in this classic Big Ten rivalry for the first time in history? Or has Indiana, with an easy schedule in its rearview, finally met its match this season?

Indiana vs Ohio State Picks – Week 13

Like I said, this is the first time in decades that Indiana is up to par with Ohio State ahead of kick-off. The Hoosiers are averaging 40.2 PPG (ranked third) while the Buckeyes aren't far behind posting 37.8 PPG (ranked eighth). Ohio State is the best scoring defense in the nation, giving up 10.3 PPG. But again, Indiana is just as solid by allowing 15 PPG.

The biggest discrepancy is strength of schedule. Defeating Michigan, who truthfully isn't much of a threat this year, is Indiana's shiniest victory. Yet, they only managed 20-points, their lowest mark of the season, against the one of the harder defenses they've faced. Meanwhile, Ohio State has bragging rights after a ranked win over Penn State and a one-point loss to Oregon. With all that said, both benches have a handful of capable receivers and a duo that splits the backfield to carry a lethal ground attack.

I'm calling a competitive matchup. At double-digit points, this week's line is a bit too inflated to hand to the Ryan Day.

Indiana vs Ohio State News

First-year head coach, Curt Cignetti, just got a lot more to play for. After earning the first 10-0 start in program history, Cignetti earned an eight-year contract extension that pockets him $8 million per year. Losing immediately after signing a piece of paper worth that much money? Not a good look.

Indiana vs Ohio State Prop Bet: Carnell tate UNDER 45.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

Tate may have the third-most receiving yards on the Buckeyes (457), but there's no doubt he runs into some problems when lining up against a stout defense. In his meetings with Penn State and Oregon, the sophomore recorded 15-yards or fewer in each performance. There's no denying the fact that, like Ohio State, Indiana is also a top three defensive unit in the country.
