Lions vs Colts Odds & Picks Week 12: Indy Has Momentum

The Lions are 7.5-point favorites (on FanDuel) over the Colts ahead of their Week 12 showdown in Indianapolis. The Lions are -370 favorites on the moneyline, and the total sits at 50.5 points.

Detroit handed Jacksonville its worst defeat in franchise history last week, teeing the Pride up for another strong effort against Indy. The Colts have momentum, too, though, after a comeback victory over the Jets.

Lions vs Colts Picks Week 12

Colts +7.5

Am I crazy for expecting a letdown game by Detroit? The Lions are scorching hot, and many pundits are hopping aboard as the Pride soars to chalk spot in the Super Bowl odds this season. The Detroit offense went nuts last week vs the Jags, when Jared Goff threw for 400+ yards while Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams both set new single-season receiving yards records. In true Dan Campbell fashion, the Lions stepped on the Jaguars' throats and didn't relent.

That said, the heavy diet of chalk on the road vs the Colts doesn't appeal to me, so I'm picking Indy to cover a tasty spread number at +7.5.

Reports from Indianapolis indicated that QB Anthony Richardson handled his recent benching with maturity, approaching the past two weeks with a determined mindset and readiness to lead the team once more. Last Sunday, he delivered in style, completing 20 of 30 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 32 yards and scoring two touchdowns — including the game-winner in the final minute.

Richardson is cooking, and the Lions are also down a key defensive piece in Alex Anzolone after the linebacker suffered a broken forearm.

Lions vs Colts Prop Pick

Jahmyr Gibbs Anytime Touchdown

You can comfortably roll the dice on anytime TD from either running back in Detroit's backfield. Gibbs and David Montgomery both hit paydirt last week, but I'm counting on Gibbs to score in Week 12, mostly because of his talents as a scat back.

Gibbs has scored a TD in seven of 10 games this season, including at least one score in four of his last five.

Lions vs Colts News

The AFC South title race is heating up, with the Colts and Texans both firmly in contention as the season progresses. Currently, both teams hold a 6-5 record, with the Colts narrowly edging out the Texans in the standings due to a head-to-head victory in Week 2.

Despite a bumpy few weeks where Joe Flacco replaced Richardson at QB, the Colts remain firmly in playoff contention, adding some extra motivation to Sunday's home showdown vs Detroit.
