While sports betting isn't yet legal in Missouri, sports fans who are 18+ can wager on Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) thanks to a 2016 bill (HB 1941) signed into law by Governor Jay Nixon. That means signing up with an operator like FanDuel gives you a chance to earn winnings while watching the Chiefs, Blues, or Royals in action. Of course you won’t be able to place wagers on things like the point spread or the over/under, and will instead be rooting for individual players.

Missouri’s two most populated cities, Kansas City and St. Louis, are home to a total of three major sports franchises. Recently, the Kansas City Chiefs have been the most successful of the three and you can find a lot of people in Missouri cheering on their Chiefs on Sundays. The St. Louis Blues and Kansas City Royals haven’t been as successful recently, but both have proud histories.

ImageNFL – Kansas City Chiefs: Thanks to Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have won three of the last five Super Bowls and this season they’re going for the elusive 3-peat. The Chiefs appear to once again be the best team in the AFC West and are primed to make another deep run into the postseason. Chiefs fans have been spoiled recently and haven’t had to watch their team have a losing season since 2012 when Romeo Crennel was their head coach.

ImageNHL – St. Louis Blues: The Blues won the Stanley Cup during the 2018-2019 season after defeating the Boston Bruins in 7 games. That season, Ryan O’Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko led the way on offense. Recently, the Blues have had a tougher time as they’ve failed to make the playoffs in each of the past two seasons. Even still, St. Louis has been a model of consistency as it has finished above .500 in 15 of the past 16 seasons.

ImageMLB – Kansas City Royals: The Royals came out of nowhere to win the World Series in 2015, but have only returned to the postseason once since – 2024. Kansas City finished with a losing record from 2017 to 2023, but they’ve shown major improvements earning that coveted postseason berth. If sports betting was legal in Missouri, Salvador Perez and Bobby Witt would be popular in player prop markets.
