Despite a slow start, Caleb Williams is back near the top of the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the year odds race. Williams was passed by Jayden Daniels early in the season, but the 2024 first-overall pick has begin to find his form.
Here's a breakdown of all the rookie odds in this NFL offensive rookie class:
2024-25 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Odds
Jayden Daniels has been the clear best QB so far in this rookie class, which pushed him to the top of OROY odds. But, with Daniels losing to the Ravens and picking up an injury against the Panthers in Week 7, things have gotten close at the top of the odds.
I still think Daniels deserves to be the leader, with the ability to add value in the rushing game all he has to do is be a decent passer to succeed at QB. He's certainly doing that, blazing an easy path to OROY glory.
But, let's find some other value down the OROY odds board:
Is Caleb Williams An OROY Value Pick?
Caleb Williams had an ugly first few weeks in the NFL that saw him fall way down the Offensive Rookie of the Year odds. But, with seven touchdowns to one interceptions in his last three weeks (all Bears wins), he's back in contention. My one concern is that Williams hasn't really faced a formidable opponent during this strong run. All four of Chicago's wins this season have come against teams that are 1-4 or 1-5. If Caleb proves himself against good teams, though, he's got a shot at winning this award.
OROY Value Pick: Brock Bowers
I don't really get why Bowers isn't higher in these rookie odds. He's doesn't have the flash of a Nabers or Jayden Daniels, but the Raiders tight end has been consistently great. He's snagged 47 receptions for 477 yards so far this year, posting four games with over 70 yards.
Bowers may not be in the best situation to rack up touchdowns or get media attention, but he's been quietly productive so far this season. Averaging over 60 yards a game, there's a chance Bowers puts up the kind of yardage needed to force his way into this OROY conversation.
Last 10 Offensive Rookie of the Year Winners
*now the Los Angeles Rams.
The variety of each winner’s role helps us understand that OROY is less constricted to year-over-year trends, with no specialization winning the award more than two years in a row – futures for this award remain anyone's game.
Interestingly, the AFC is a favorite destination of talented offensive players lately, contributing the last four winners.
NFL Teams with the Most Offensive Rookie of the Year Winners
With a stellar collection of rookie talent, the Vikings lead all teams in OROY awards. The competition is tight, though – with recent victories for the Rams and Cowboys pushing them into a tie for second, the development of rookies within these organizations is worth watching.
Whether it be a lack of offensive talent out of the Draft or due to their particular systems, seven teams have never had an OROY:
