Super Bowl 53 Receiving Props

Looking for information on Super Bowl player props? Check out Odds Shark's new page on Super Bowl Player Prop Bets.

Individual player props at the receiving position have been released for Super Bowl 53. For each of the main targets on each team, you can bet OVER or UNDER on their number of receiving yards and number of total receptions.

When approaching these prop bets for Super Bowl 53, it is important to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of each team. For example, Aqib Talib will very likely be smothering Julian Edelman for the entire 60 minutes of play, so does that give Chris Hogan a better chance to have a big night? Or does that mean that the deep ball won’t be there as often for Brady so guys like James White and Sony Michel could have a big night?

Let’s examine some of my favorite receiving props for the big game:

Gronk UNDER 4.5 Receptions (-150)

My favorite bet for this prop is Gronk at UNDER 4.5 receptions at +140. At least that's where I got this bet that has since plummeted to -150. Gronkowski has been used primarily as a blocker this season and has been OVER 4.5 receptions just four times in 15 games this year. He caught four passes or less on 11 occasions this year.

In the win against the Chargers in the divisional round, Gronk had just one target despite the Patriots scoring 41 points. This is because he had to work harder on the line in a protective role instead of becoming a receiving option. With the Rams bringing the best defensive line in the league, expect Gronk to be used in a similar fashion in the Super Bowl.

Robert Woods OVER 5.5 Receptions (-155)

The odds on this prop are a little chalkier than I like to play, however, I do like Robert Woods to catch more than 5.5 passes in the Super Bowl. He has hauled in six or more targets in five of his last six games – the only game he didn’t was in Week 17 against the 49ers (when Woods caught two of his three targets before resting).

Last week the Patriots keyed in on Tyreek Hill, leaving No. 2 receiver Sammy Watkins for 114 yards on four receptions – leading the Chiefs in both categories.

Chris Hogan OVER 3.0 Receptions (-120)

I really like the value on Chris Hogan here. As mentioned above, Julian Edelman will be dealing with Aqib Talib all night, leaving Hogan as a viable and increasingly trusted option for Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

Hogan has been targeted 23 times for 14 receptions in his last three games, an average of 4.6 receptions per game.

In the NFC championship game, Michael Thomas was limited to seven targets and four catches, forcing Drew Brees to look for secondary options. In the divisional game against Dallas, Michael Gallup was the Cowboys’ leading receiver with Amari Cooper held to just 65 yards.

Below you will find all the props for receivers, tight ends and backs for both the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots.
