Underdog Bet Of The Day: Jays To Triumph On Canada Day

For my underdog bet of the day, I'm looking at the Blue Jays to win outright at +120 vs the visiting Astros. While the trends for Toronto on Canada Day aren't great, 2-5 last seven, there series split over the weekend vs the Yankees gives me confidence to make this play.

Underdog Bet Of The Day: Toronto Blue Jays (+120)

Not only do I think the Jays can pull off the upset today, it may start early which could open the door for a hedge opportunity if you're more bullish on the Astros and the Canada Day trends. I wrote in my NRFI Bets today the struggles of Hunter Brown in the first inning (10.43 ERA this season) and that three career hits he's allowed to current Jays have been home runs.

Beyond this, Toronto's lineup has FINALLY been clicking with the likes of Vlad Guerrero Jr. on a seven-game hit streak (15 hits, 5 HR, 19 RBI), George Springer on a five-game hit streak (10 hits, 3 HR, 10 RBI) and Isiah Kiner-Falefa's 13-game hit streak (23 hits, 3 HR, 7 RBI) came to an end yesterday — this team is heating up.

Jays starter Yariel Rodriguez will have to be cautious in his own right as the Astros have been rolling as of late, winning nine of their last 10. The Cuban notably has been roughed up in the second innings this year, holding a horrendous 10.38 ERA after a respectable 3.60 first-inning ERA.

I can understand some hesitation running to your betting app to place a bet on the Jays as underdogs as they are just 8-18 this season in this spot costing you nearly $800 on $100 bets. However, the squad has won three in a row as dogs profiting backers $330 over that run. If Rodriguez can settle in early, and the Toronto offense hops on Brown in the first, we will be well on our way to cashing our underdog bet of the day.
