Vikings vs Titans Odds & Picks Week 11: Red Flags With Darnold In Minny

The Minnesota Vikings opened up as a 6-point favorite at FanDuel over the Tennessee Titans in a Week 11 contest in Nashville. The Over/Under total was set at 41.5. The line ticked down a hook to the Vikes -5.5. and the total was bet down to 40.5.

We do have some recent history for this matchup but you have to scroll back to the 2020 season when the Titans (-2.5) squeezed past the Vikings in Minny, 31-30. The Over/Under was listed at 50.5 and went high.

Looking ahead, the Vikings stay on the road for a visit to the Chicago Bears, while the Titans head down to Houston for an AFC South tussle.

Titans +6.5 (-125) at FanDuel

Let me tell you why a 7-2 record does not impress me. Talking about Minnesota and we're talking about two different teams. The Vikings got off to a magical start, winning five in a row against some pretty good teams, including the 49ers, Texans and Packers. Then came the bye week, and then the problems started. Minny (-1) lost a tough one at home to the Lions (31-29), then came up on the short end of a 30-20 score against at the Rams as a 2.5-point favorite. They started to fix the problems, but beating a lousy Colts team 21-13 and an UGLY Jaguars team 12-7 is not exactly something you wanna put on your resume.

The problems are starting to bubble up and most of the bubbles are around QB Sam Darnold. If you looked at his stats from last week, they seemed solid. He was 24 of 38 for 241 yards, but, and it's a big one, there were ZERO TDs and THREE INTs. Ouch!

In his last five games, Darnold has only six TDs, but, another big one, SEVEN INTs. The Purple People managed just four FGs against a Jacksonville defense that is not gonna be confused with the old Steel Curtain. And Minny's defense caught a break playing against backup QB Mac Jones who might be in an Elk uniform up in Edmonton next season. Back to Darnold. The kid came out of USC as 1st round pick (No. 33 overall), a sure fire superstar, but he has already been on four teams in seven years. Why? Slingin' Sam is barely above 60% of completed passes and has 80 TDs against 66 INTs in his career. That's why.

Move to the opposite side of the field and Tennessee QB Will Levis returned to action after missing three games and had an afternoon. Levis had to fight against THE BEST defense in the NFL, the Chargers, and was able to complete 18 of 23 (78.3%) for 175 yards with 2 TDs and 0 INTs. When we say BEST defense, we're talking about L.A. allowing only 118 points through nine games.

I like the fact that the Titans usually are a tough out at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. With the exception of one game so far this season, a 30-14 loss to the Packers, Tennessee has been competitive. They lost to the Jets by seven, the Colts by three and beat the Patriots by three. Looked at some of their work from last season, and all three home losses were by only three points. So, we're gonna ask you to buy the point and take +6.5 points to the bank.
