Washington is a 4.5-point favorite when they face off against intrastate rival Washington State at Lumen Field in Seattle. This game is not on Washington's campus so you can call it a neutral site, but it's still in Seattle and maybe only six miles from Husky Stadium.
Both teams posted wins last week, with Washington (-25) beating Eastern Michigan 30-9 but failing to cover the spread. State (+2.5) roughed up Texas Tech 37-16 for an easy cover.

Washington State vs. Washington pick — Week 3
Apple pie. Applesauce. Apple strudel. Apple martini. And of course, the Apple Cup. Washington and Washington State have faced off for all the apples since 1900. The Huskies hold a Yuge 76-33-6 advantage including a win last season.
But as everyone knows, that was a totally different Washington squad, with a different QB (Michael Penix) and different coach (Kalen DeBoer). The 2024 version runs out Will Rogers at QB and Jedd Fisch calling the Xs & Os. Rogers came over after four years at Mississippi State and was pretty much perfect last week, hitting on 21-of-26 for 261 yards with 4 TDs and zero INTs.
Fisch, if you're not familiar, was at Arizona the last three years and took the Wildcats from 1-11 in his first season to 10-3 last year. I'm IMPRESSED! When DeBoer left for Alabama, the cupboard was BARE, with UDub returning only two starters on offense and three on defense. However, Fisch landed a TOP TEN in the Portal Transfers, so there's still plenty of talent in purple. I'm IMPRESSED!
On the other side of the field, Washington State is basically a one man band. QB John Mateer was very light through the air last week against Texas Tech, completing only 9-of-19 for just 119 yards. However, Mateer was INSANE on the ground, gobbling up 197 yards. I'm IMPRESSED again, but gotta take a step back and tell you that Texas Tech AIN'T all that this season.
Tech barely squeezed past Abilene Christian in their opener, at home, 52-51. And if you noticed that the Cougars put up 70 points in Week 1, it was against Portland State, a team that fits into my folder titled CUPCAKERY!
Last season, these two intrastate rivals hooked up in Seattle and the Huskies (-15) squeezed past the Cougars 24-21 but failed to cover the spread. The total was 65.5 and obviously went low.
Washington State vs. Washington Week 3 pick: Washington ML (-188)
Pick as of Sept. 10 at 2:30 pm ET
Thinking that Jedd Fisch has the upper hand and more talent for all the Apples, but not thrilled laying 4.5 in this nasty intrastate rivalry, so the wallet says, take the Huskies on the moneyline.
